The federal skilled trades program is another possible option for getting a Permanent Residency in Canada. The FSTP (Federal skilled trades program) is another immigration pathway for skilled workers who wish to be permanent residents of Canada.
There are other skilled worker programs available, such as federal skilled workers (FSW), however, this is a very fast and easy way to get a permanent residency in Canada. The federal skilled trades program is for applicants who have the required skills and qualifications as per Canadian government needs and want to become Permanent Residents of Canada.
Minimum requirements or eligibility criteria for the Federal skilled trades program (FSTP)
The federal skilled trades program is a viable option for applicants who have at least 2 years of work experience in their respective fields. However, there are some requirements that must be met by the employer or applicant before applying for this program.
To be eligible for the federal skilled trades program, you must fulfil the Canadian NOC skill type B or your trade should match the Canadian NOC skill type
- Major group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades is the first category of NOC
- Major group 73, supervision or management and appliance operation trades
- Major group 82, administrator and technical and natural resources jobs, a job in agricultural and related products
- Major group 92, manufacturing, processing and utility supervisor and central control operation
- Minor group 632, cooks and chefs
- Minor group 633, butcher and bakers
You must meet the minimum language ability for this program, which is CLB 5 for speaking & listening and CLB 4 for writing & reading
Before applying for the program, you should make sure that you have a minimum of 2 years of full time work experiencein one of the NOC work or skill subcategory in which you can apply
Although there is no official requirement for any education qualification for the federal skilled trades program, you can improve your language ability CLB score and work experience and skill to improve your rank Express entry system
For getting a Permanent Residency through this program, you have to provide proof that you have sufficient funds for living in Canada and you can financially support your stay
Apart from the above requirements you also have to fulfil some more requirements such as:
- The candidate must have a job offer letter in Canada where you are invited to work with them
